Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 1+ year of experience with network equipment and network protocol testing and debugging
- Experience in test automation using Python or C++
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with test methodologies, writing test plans, and creating test cases
- Hands-on work with live networks (e.g., working in ISP, managing customer networks), testing products, and deployment scenarios
- Familiarity with network testing, network protocols, network test automation, and network troubleshooting
- Experience using Unix/Linux operating systems
About the Role:
Google’s Platforms Team designs and builds the hardware, software, and networking infrastructure that powers all Google services. As a Network Test Engineer, you’ll ensure our vast and growing network operates at maximum potential. You’ll work closely with development teams to validate new technologies, automate test processes, and help maintain Google’s standards of reliability and scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute test plans for networking features, equipment, and systems
- Build test automation tools and support end-to-end testing
- Certify software releases for general deployment
- Collaborate with engineering teams to validate new features in Google systems
- Manage feature readiness and prioritize based on test importance and release blockers
- Solve open-ended problems through data-driven and structured testing approaches
