Job Description
As a Graduate Trainee at Calix, you will work closely with the Security Engineering and Threat Intelligence teams to support the research, development, and validation of network intrusion detection capabilities. Your contributions will strengthen the organization’s threat detection systems and enhance internal cybersecurity processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with security engineers and threat researchers to analyze network-based attacks and generate detection logic.
- Perform packet-level analysis using PCAPs and tools such as Wireshark or Zeek.
- Assist in developing and testing detection signatures for IPS/NIDS systems.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and automation workflows in Python.
- Conduct open-source intelligence (OSINT) gathering for emerging threats and indicators of compromise (IoCs).
- Support the creation of technical documentation, reports, and playbooks.
- Participate in technical discussions throughout the threat research lifecycle.
- Assist in building simulated attack scenarios to validate detection capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (2024/2025) in Computer Science, IT, Networking, or Cyber Security.
- Strong understanding of Computer Networking, TCP/IP, OSI Model, and IDS concepts.
- Familiarity with Cyber Threat Intelligence and MITRE ATT&CK framework.
- Basic programming knowledge in Python for automation or scripting tasks.
- Comfortable working on both Linux and Windows platforms.
- Knowledge of tools such as Wireshark, Snort, Suricata, or tcpdump is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and research skills.
