About the Team
As part of Cisco’s engineering teams, interns will work on designing, developing, and testing software solutions across multiple domains. The work involves:
- Building applications across cloud, mobile, desktop, and security platforms
- Designing and debugging software for new product features
- Contributing to network infrastructure, operating systems, compilers, and related tools
Key Skills & Knowledge Areas
Interns will be matched to projects based on their background and interest. Areas include:
1. Networking Protocols
- Fundamentals of TCP/IP, routing, and switching
- Basics of routers, switches, and debugging tools
- Exposure to network security concepts (Firewall, VPN, IPS/IDS, TLS, IPsec)
- Strong programming skills (Python preferred)
2. Application Software
- Object-oriented programming and design fundamentals
- Knowledge of cloud-based application development
- Programming in Python and other scripting languages
- Familiarity with debugging tools and open-source technologies
3. Embedded and Systems Development
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, kernel programming, device drivers
- System-level debugging and performance optimization
- Programming in Python and C/C++
