Team Overview
You will join the Marketing Technologies Platform Team, responsible for delivering billions of customer communications daily. This team is central to providing personalized and timely engagement experiences to eBay’s global user base.
Role Overview
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to building, testing, and maintaining Java-based applications and services. This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to gain real-world experience and work closely with experienced developers in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, test, and debug efficient Java code for new features and product enhancements
- Identify and fix software bugs
- Participate in unit testing and support integration testing
- Learn new tools, technologies, and development best practices
- Collaborate with developers, QA, and product owners to meet project goals
- Assist in documentation and code reviews
- Provide support for existing applications when needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 0–2 years of experience in Java development or equivalent academic project work
- Understanding of Java, OOP, data structures, algorithms, and SQL
- Familiarity with Git or version control systems
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
- Exposure to Spring Boot, REST APIs, and unit testing frameworks
- Basic understanding of build tools like Maven or Gradle
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or Docker
- Awareness of Agile/Scrum practices
- Knowledge of AI-powered code generation tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude, Cursor)
