Job Description: As a Technical Support Specialist at IBM, you will play a crucial role in supporting various IBM products and providing industry-leading solutions. Whether working on internal projects or for clients, your contributions in software support will be essential to the success of IBM and its clients globally. This role involves collaboration with system administrators and developers across diverse industries, such as banking, commerce, insurance, social media, transportation, and governments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and debug issues in Distributed/UNIX/Linux operating systems.
- Utilize sound knowledge in Java diagnosis and debugging technologies.
- Demonstrate expertise in software troubleshooting and diagnostics skills.
- Handle Application and Web Server administration and implementation, including related technologies such as XML, Connectors, EJB, JSP, Servlets, Security, and Web services.
- Provide remote technical support assistance to clients using Problem Determination (PD) and Problem Source Identification (PSI) skills.
- Interpret product traces and logs to solve complex technical problems.
- Communicate action plans to clients, ensuring satisfaction with resolution steps or the identification of the problem’s root cause.
- Collaborate with System Administrators and Developers for leading companies worldwide.
- Continually enhance technology skills by driving problem resolution and improvements to technical support tools and procedures.
- Work on weekends/off-shift hours based on business demand.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Good knowledge of Distributed/UNIX/Linux operating systems.
- Proficiency in Java diagnosis and debugging technologies.
- Experience in Application and Web Server administration.
- Strong problem analysis skills using system dumps and traces.
- Excellent communication and soft skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to perform administrative tasks and adhere to processes.
