Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Technical Support Professional Intern, you will:
- Provide technical support for IBM software products.
- Troubleshoot and analyze customer issues, including customer calls when required.
- Help manage customer expectations and maintain professional relationships.
- Set up test scenarios to replicate issues reported by clients.
- Contribute to knowledge base articles and document solutions.
- Escalate defects to development teams and help manage communication.
- Offer production support during weekends on rotation in system-down scenarios.
You will receive training beyond standard user functionality, paired with a mentor, and collaborate with a team to solve complex technical problems. Strong communication in both written and verbal form is critical.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- Core Java / JEE or any programming language knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and solve customer issues
- Willingness to work on rotational shifts including weekends
- Quick learner with aptitude to pick up new technologies (cloud & on-prem)
- Ability to read technical documentation and research solutions
- Time management and task prioritization skills
- Strong judgment and teamwork ability
Preferred Skills (Optional but Advantageous)
- Troubleshooting Java code, logs, databases (DB2 / Oracle)
- Understanding messaging systems like IBM MQ, Apache Kafka, ActiveMQ
- Experience with containers (Docker) and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of RedHat OpenShift / AWS
- Understanding JSON, XML, application servers (WebSphere Liberty, Tomcat)
- Database query skills in IBM DB2, Oracle, Cassandra, MongoDB
- Basic networking protocol knowledge
